North East Florida
If you feel the need for speed, then the Daytona Beach area of North East Florida could be for you. Synonymous with glamour, fast cars and great beaches, this area attracts a certain type of thrill seeker.
However, there is more to the area than just the famous race track and Daytona 500 race held every February. The region also boasts some of the state’s best surfing at Ponce Inlet, and there are some areas of beach and a science centre dedicated to the plight of the endangered seas turtles.
Further north in the area is the great city of Jacksonville. A centre of history and culture, the city has a great number of museums and tourist attractions to entertain the whole family.
The city also marks the start of the famous ‘Buccaneer Trail’ that celebrates the swashbuckling history of the area. More conventionally known as Route A1A, the trail leads through places such as Fort George and Amelia Island, an important African American historical site.
